Siena Literacy Center offers Adult Basic Education (ABE) and
English as a Second Language (ESL) programs.
Tutor/Adult Learner partners meet at the Center once a
week for an hour and a half.
Partners meet weekly until the learner reaches his or her
goals. Tutoring is
offered free of charge, following a $10 registration fee and
purchase of the learner workbook.
However, Siena Literacy Center will not deny services to
learners regardless of ability to pay. We are committed to serve learners without regard to age,
income, ethnicity, or citizenship status.
Adult Basic Education (ABE) program is for
English-speaking adults who read or do math at an eighth grade
level or below.
The Laubach Way to Reading® (LWR) method has
proved effective for many of the Center’s adult learners; 65%
move up a grade level or two within one year of beginning the
program.
English as a Second Language (ESL) program is for
non-English-speaking adults who wish to improve their
conversation, reading, and writing skills.
Learners may prepare for the U.S. citizenship interview
and test.
Resources
Siena Literacy Center offers private learning space, an
extensive resource library, and a technology room fully-equipped
with personal computers and educational software.
