"The Heart of the Community"

On Thursday, May 1, we were delighted to honor our wonderful volunteers and tutors with a Tutor Appreciation Night.  Thank you to all who attended...your generosity and commitment to adult literacy is overwhelming.  Also, thank you to the Metro-Catholic Gospel Choir, who shared their glorious voices with us.

Congratulations to Irene and Jerry Cavanaugh for 10 years of service to Siena Literacy Center!!

Our Mission

Siena Literacy Center is a non-profit organization that works to improve the lives of families in northwest Metropolitan Detroit by providing a basic education program for adult learners.  Together with our volunteer tutors, we teach reading, math, computer skills, and English as a Second Language (ESL).  Tutoring is done free of charge at our location in northwest Detroit.  We believe in providing a comfortable learning environment.

Since 1995, 553 tutors have helped over 1500 adult learners meet the challenges of their everyday lives.  Please browse through our website to see what Siena Literacy Center has to offer.

Siena Literacy Center is an accredited affiliate of ProLiteracy America.
