Donna Nesbitt, Director

Donna is a native Detroiter who attended Detroit Public Schools. She is a graduate of University of Michigan with a BS and MS in Special Education. She later attended Oakland University where she earned an Ed. Sp. in School Administration. In 2006 Donna retired as school principal from the Detroit Public Schools with 32 years of service. She has one son and two granddaughters. In her spare time, Donna enjoys traveling, shopping, and dancing. She is a member of Hartford Memorial Baptist Church where she is active on the usher board and event planning.
Mary Anna Riley, IHM: Admissions and Assessment Coordinator

Employed at the Center since August 2002, Sr. Mary Anna is a Certified ProLiteracy Action Tutor. She has taught and administered in elementary schools for 35 years, has a Master of Education degree and an Associates degree in Occupational Therapy. Sr. Mary Anna really loves traveling, taking pictures, cooking, especially creating new brunch dishes.
Lenore Boivin, OP: Special Projects Coordinator
Sr. Lenore has been with the Center since 2004, working as a tutor as well as on the staff. Currently she assists tutors who have adult learners with special learning needs. She taught in elementary schools and worked with adults and children for 30 years. Sr. Lenore has a BA in Education and an MA in Art Therapy. She loves to read, be creative, help and listen to others.
Cheralyn Suggs, Placement Coordinator

Cheralyn has been in the field of education for over 30 years, working with Head Start and many community service organizations. In 2006, she retired from the Detroit Public Schools as a Speech Language Pathologist. As a volunteer tutor at SLC for four years, Cheralyn developed a better appreciation for those who seek to become more literate. She continued to serve us as an AmeriCorps® member in 2007, and joined the staff full-time in 2008. She and her husband are enjoying life as empty-nesters.
Francesca Bozzo, OFM
Francesca joined the Center in 2007, and coordinates learner assessments and skill diagnostics. In addition, she is a student at Sacred Heart Major Seminary in Detroit. Francesca enjoys volunteering with youth in detention, loves to cook and bake, travel, and do creative craftwork.
Brittany Moore, AmeriCorps Member
Brittany is a recent graduate of the University of Michigan with a BA in African American Studies. She joined the Center in 2009 through the Michigan AmeriCorps® Partnership. Brittany enjoys reading, cooking, and promoting social justice and equality. She hopes to obtain a Master's degree in Urban Planning in the near future.
