Our Programs

Siena Literacy Center offers Adult Basic Education (ABE) and English as a Second Language (ESL) programs. Tutor/Adult Learner meet at the Center once a week for two hours to work toward  his or her goals. In addition, learners are required to spend at least two hours a week in the computer lab using educational software.

Adult Basic Education
Our (ABE) program is for English-speaking adults who read or do math below ninth grade. The Laubach Way to Reading® (LWR) method has proved effective for many of the learners; We also use the Wilson Reading System®  for readers having more difficulty learning. Volunteers tutor to the limits of their qualifications.

English as a Second Language
Our (ESL) program is for non-English-speaking adults who wish to improve their conversation, reading, and writing skills. Learners may prepare for the U.S. citizenship interview and test.

Siena Literacy Center offers private learning space, an extensive resource library, and an up-dated computer lab.
